If you happen to live anywhere within driving distance of Olympia Washington, you need to come out for Spring Arts Walk and Procession of the Species this weekend in downtown Olympia.
Arts Walk starts today, April 26, and celebrates the arts in our community including both visual and performing arts. Over 100 local businesses will be hosting local artists and their work as a way to celebrate and embrace art of all forms. Maps with listings of artists and venues are available at The Olympia Center and other participating locations. There is also a new Arts Walk mobile app with real time event updates and an interactive map available online.
Procession of the Species is included in Arts Walk and takes place Saturday, April 27 at 4:30 pm in downtown Olympia. It is a lively and colorful parade that celebrates nature and community. There is music, chalk drawings, dancing, giant puppets and beautiful costumes.
Both events are free although donations to the Thurston County Food Bank are appreciated and can be dropped off at the registration table at Jefferson and Cherry.
